Frequently Asked Questions

How does KDNCE create my training plan?

KDNCE uses the Jack Daniels VDOT model — the same system used by Olympic running coaches. It reads your VO2 max from Apple Watch, calculates your training paces, and builds a periodized plan based on your fitness level, weekly availability, and goal race.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

Yes. KDNCE is built for Apple Watch and relies on HealthKit data (heart rate, HRV, VO2 max, sleep) to personalize your training. The iPhone app is used for plan setup, analysis, and detailed insights. The Watch app is where you run.

What data does KDNCE access?

Heart rate, resting heart rate, HRV, VO2 max, sleep analysis, active energy, step count, and running metrics. All data is read from Apple HealthKit. KDNCE never collects, uploads, or shares your data. Everything stays on your device.

How does the readiness score work?

Each morning, KDNCE calculates a 0–100 readiness score based on your overnight HRV, resting heart rate, sleep duration and quality, and recent training load. This score determines whether your plan suggests a hard session, easy run, or rest day.

What happens if I miss a workout?

Missed workouts are automatically detected and marked in your plan. The remaining plan adapts to account for the missed training load. You can also redo a missed workout from the plan view.

How accurate are the race predictions?

Race predictions are based on your current VO2 max using the Daniels VDOT model. They assume proper training and favorable race conditions. Actual performance depends on factors like course elevation, weather, nutrition, and pacing strategy.

What is the Energy Score?

It tracks your energy level (0–100) throughout the day based on sleep quality, HRV, heart rate, workouts, and activity. It drains with exertion and recharges with rest — using real heart rate data from your Watch, not guesswork.

What's included in KDNCE Pro?

The free version includes training plans, all race predictions (5K to marathon), readiness score, real-time pace coaching, and shoe tracking for one pair. Pro unlocks morning report, energy score, training load monitoring, fitness & fatigue model, VO2 max trends, workout quality scoring, smart race taper, and unlimited shoe tracking.

Can I cancel my Pro subscription?

Yes, anytime. Go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone. You'll keep Pro access until the end of your billing period.

My VO2 max shows as "--" — why?

That means KDNCE doesn't have enough data yet. Your Apple Watch needs at least 1–2 outdoor runs of 20+ minutes with GPS enabled to calculate your VO2 max.

Once Apple Watch has enough data, KDNCE picks it up automatically and all your training paces, race predictions, and zone calculations will update to match your real fitness.

Does KDNCE work without an internet connection?

Yes. KDNCE runs entirely on-device. No internet required for training plans, workouts, or analysis. The only exception is the initial Pro subscription purchase.
